Muslim-Turned-Jew Asks: Am I My Own Enemy?

Thu, Jul 19, 2018

A man who grew up Muslim, and today lives as a Jew in Jerusalem, will be speaking at Chabad Bay Area in League City on Tuesday, July 31, at 7:30 p.m.

Mark Halawa has crossed many borders in his life, both spiritually and literally. He was brought up as a Palestinian Arab in Kuwait, where, from a young age, he heard hate-filled sermons against Israel and the Jewish people. The startling discovery of his own Jewishness changed the path of his life to one he never could have imagined.

In his talk, “Am I My Own Enemy? My Journey from Muslim in Kuwait to Jew in Jerusalem,” Halawa will tell his riveting story. He will also share his unique insight into the mindset of Arab youth today, and offer a glimpse into his work to increase tolerance and understanding between Arabs and Jews.

The talk will be held at the Chabad Bay Area – Center for Jewish Life and Learning, 2047 W. Main St, Suite B7, in League City.

Advance reservations are encouraged, as space is limited. RSVP at jbayarea.org/talk or by phone 281-724-1554, or email learn@jbayarea.org. Contributions are welcome and sponsorship opportunities are available.
