Each year, hundreds of thousands of people flock to Mt. Meron in northern Israel to celebrate Lag Ba'Omer.
Lag Ba'Omer ("The 33rd Day of the Omer Count") marks the passing of Rabbi Shimon son of Yochai, the author of the Zohar, the ancient book of Kabbalah, as well as the day when the students of Rabbi Akiva were spared from a plague. Among the themes of the day are Jewish unity and love for your fellow.
