Visit to 'The Ohel'

This Tuesday, Malky and I will, G-d Willing, be joining tens of thousands of people visiting the resting place ("The Ohel") of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, on the occasion of his 20th Yahrtzeit (anniversary of passing).

There's an ancient Jewish tradition that speaks to the significance of prayers offered at a holy place, such as the resting of place of a Tzadik (an exceptionally righteous person who lived his/her life dedicated to goodness and fulfillment of the Divine Will).

If you'd like to have me include your name for a blessing when we pray at the Ohel, please send me an email at [email protected], with your full Hebrew name and mother's name (if known, of course).

Shabbat Shalom,

Yitzchok

True Leadership

What is a true leader all about? This is a central theme in this week’s Torah portion, when Korach challenges Moses and Aaron in their role of leading the Jewish People.

By Divine Providence, this very week, hundreds of Houstonians will gather to learn about and honor a Jewish leader who has had a monumental influence on our generation.

I hope to see you this Wednesday evening for Timeless Leadership a world-class event at Houston’s Wortham Center honoring the life and leadership impact of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, on the occasion of his upcoming 20th Yahrtzeit.

The venue, the speakers, the moderator, are all top notch. Be a part of it, I’m sure you will come away enriched and inspired!

Bring back our boys

As you may have heard, three teenage Yeshiva students in Israel were kidnapped  by terrorists last night.

Please say a prayer, recite Psalms, give charity, or do an extra Mitzvah (such as lighting Shabbat Candles today at 8:03 pm) in their merit.

May G-d grant special protection to Yaakov Naftali ben Rachel Devorah, Gilad Michael ben Bat Galim and Eyal ben Iris Teshurah - may they be returned home speedily, safe and sound!

The Shavuot Boost

We come away from the holiday of Shavuot, the festival of the Giving of the Torah, with a renewed strength and inspiration to infuse our lives and the world around us with the light and goodness of Torah and Mitzvot.
