The Values That Shape Judaism's Civil Code

Talmudic analysis and mind-bending logic have long been a hallmark of Jewish scholarship. But buried beneath much of the discussion are core Jewish values that fuel so much of the debate. This course examines a number of key legal issues that disclose fundamental ethical considerations that serve as the engine of Jewish civil law.

The 50th anniversary of  Chabad in Texas was celebrated this past Sunday and Monday with a Farbrengen gathering of close to 200 men, women and children, of the Texas Shluchim families. The Shluchim (emissaries), representing the 58 couples – 116 community leaders – and their families, serve 37 independent branches around Texas, each with multiple organizations and programs. Chabad of Texas was founded with the arrival of Rabbi Shimon & Chiena Lazaroff on 25 Iyar, 5732 / May 9 1972 as one of the 71 new institutions established that year for the Rebbe's 70th birthday.
