The 50th anniversary of  Chabad in Texas was celebrated this past Sunday and Monday with a Farbrengen gathering of close to 200 men, women and children, of the Texas Shluchim families. The Shluchim (emissaries), representing the 58 couples – 116 community leaders – and their families, serve 37 independent branches around Texas, each with multiple organizations and programs. Chabad of Texas was founded with the arrival of Rabbi Shimon & Chiena Lazaroff on 25 Iyar, 5732 / May 9 1972 as one of the 71 new institutions established that year for the Rebbe's 70th birthday.

Houston's Jewish Herald Voice published a special edition for the occasion
