Our humble League City earned a most honorable distinction when it became the site of an official printing of Tanya this past Tuesday, May 9th – the day of Lag Ba’Omer!
Tanya, authored in the late 1700s by Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, the first Rebbe of Chabad, is considered one of the most important works addressing the inner struggles of man and how to achieve success in one’s efforts towards personal spiritual growth and refinement.
The Tanya has been published in thousands of locations around the world in a campaign encouraged by the Rebbe, who explained that the very publishing of this holy book of Torah is a sacred event that helps reveal more G-dliness and thus more blessing in the place in which it is done.
We are proud to have been granted an official license by the publishing house Kehot to publish volume 8,173 right here at Chabad Bay Area in League City. This project was fittingly launched on Lag Ba’Omer, a day associated with the revelation of the inner teachings of Torah. Participants at the Lag Ba’Omer celebration had the opportunity to be part of this launch and were even able to hear a short inspiring teaching on the topic of Loving One’s Fellow as One’s Self from the very first copy that just came off the press!
If you would like to help sponsor this project, go to jbayarea.org/give and mention the Tanya Project in the note.
One hundred copies of the more than 600-page book will be printed and made available to members of the community and friends who would like to have their very own copy of this historic printing and book!
